Another photo in the basketball theme. We're nearing the end...and it causes me to do much thinking about the past. Saturday night against Waukee, Hannah scored her 1000th point in high school. She is only the 3rd girl from Norwalk to do that. The other two were both over 6' which makes Hannah's accomplishment that much more amazing! Of course, she is an amazing young lady!

The journaling reads:
The two of you were something special. You metat Sam’s basketball camp. Janae thought thatyou were some punk from the suburbs and sheconsidered herself a tough baller. When shesaw how well you played, she got an attitudegoing. Sam called both of you over andwhen he asked what was going on, Janaeblamed you. Of course, Sam knew Janaewell and didn’t fall for her story. When he got on her, she started to cry and youwent over and put your arms aroundher and told her that you weresorry that you caused her to get intotrouble. Even though you had done nothing! You reached out to Janaeand loved her. And she loved you back. As often happens, the friendship of childhood didn’t last. Janae foundother influences that drew her away. She had a baby at 16. She dropped out of high school. But for awhile, the two of you were as close as two people can be. And it all started because you weremore concerned about Janae’s hurts than your own.

The journaling on the top one reads:

Zeb is in 8th grade. They are both sobusy. But I wish that they could take a few minutesand head back to this place.

What fun it was to scrap this photo.

The date on the back of the photo makes me believe that it was 10 years ago. Hard to believe that Sarah was so little. I love the way this photo fits with the word art. If you know my brother, you know that he has always made his children the "big things". When I see this photo, it reminds me of the priority that he has always placed on his children...living in the moment...

I hope that the kids remember that someday when they are older.

I taught my first Sunday School class this weekend. Only four kids and two of them are mine. But I LOVED it!!! Here's a few new layouts...but with photos from 2007. I've got to get some 2008 scrapping done so that I don't get so far behind!

We watched The Sound of Music again this afternoon. When Maria and the children are singing "Do-Re-Me", the children change clothes. Sydney pointed it out to me. She said, "Mommy, I think that it must be magic there, the way they can change their clothes like that."

Last night was the Norwalk and Ballard game. Norwalk won 38-35. Ballard was number 1 and Norwalk was number 4, going in! Can't wait to see the new rankings!

Why is it that when I look up that I find that 8 days have passed since my last blog post. I am always soooo far behind!

Saturday, I sat with Sydney and Shaun and watched The Sound of Music. I remember going to see that movie with my mom at the theater when it was first released. (Yes, even though I was a young child, it still makes me old!!!) So when I sat down to watch it with them, I didn't really know how much interest they would have. But I thought that it was good exposure for them.

Well, I completely underestimated my children's interest. They love The Sound of Music. They have watched the entire thing at least 3 times and have watched parts of it more than that. Different parts of it...they find the whole thing fascinating.

Last night Sydney insisted on seeing the part about "cuckoo" again. So, before bedtime, Shaun and Sydney and I went downstairs and watched "So Long, Farewell" several times before we went to bed. And, we even acted it out.

If you remember the movie, you know that the little kids peek out from behind the bigger kids at the party, and from behind the parents at the Austrian Music Festival. Well, both of the kids would stand behind me and peek out and sing cuckoo with the Von Trapp children! I could see their reflection in the TV. Then, when Daddy came down, both Mommy and Daddy participated. I need to find some music activities for both kids...they both seem to love music and I need to foster that now.
If you like my layouts, check out my oscraps gallery for full credits on the products that I used.

Happy New Year! Wonder what 2008 holds? It's funny...I sit here today feeling that my family is complete. It's been a few years since I felt that. January 1, 2005, we were waiting for Sydney. January 1, 2006, I had the feeling that there was another child out there that belonged in our family. January 1, 2007, we were waiting for Shaun. January 1, 2008, I sit here with my family complete. How God has richly blessed.

And, what good news I got to end the year! I'm on Nina's Creative Team. She has the neatest stuff. So, I'll be making lots of layouts in 2008. Be sure to click on the link on the right to see my gallery at oscraps.
